The Bronze Chapter is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating the inequitable racial disparities related to outdoor recreation. Executive Director Denice Rochelle strives to find and create opportunities for local Black individuals to courageously and safely occupy outdoor spaces together.

The Community Boating Center is committed to partnering with groups to further equitable access to white-dominated arenas like boating. We are stoked to continue supporting Black communities in Whatcom, King, and Skagit counties with The Bronze Chapter’s extensive network as we firmly believe water sports are for everybody.

We are thrilled to watch The Bronze Chapter grow their impact and engagement and we’re ready to help make a splash on Bellingham Bay!

Watch this KCTS feature video below to see the founder, Denise Rochelle, talk about their work and the value of expanding access for BIPOC folks in outdoor recreation!

“The Bronze Chapter has collaborated with the Community Boating Center in initiatives to provide communities of color with opportunities to get out on the water and experience the natural environment. The uncontainable squeals and excitement, ear-to-ear smiles, pure gratitude, and positive feedback are logged as successes as we work to increase diversity and inclusivity in outdoor spaces. The Community Boating Center has been a pleasure to work with and we look forward to many more adventures on the water”
