Veterans on the Bay

At CBC we value the brave men and women who have served our country.

We want to say thanks by getting our Veterans on the Bay!

Mission: To create a community of vets and their families, sharing in the recreational and therapeutic benefits of being on the water

The Community Boating Center is proud to partner with Growing Veterans for this program.

Tuesday Sunset Sail

Take this opportunity to enjoy 2 hours of sailing around the bay, learn how to take the helm or just relax in the company of other Vets and their families!

Cost: $25/person! Full scholarships are available!

This program meets at the CBC at 6 pm, pre-registration is required!

This program is for any Veteran interested in learning the basics of sailing or just giving it a try. Whether you are looking to try something new, or you’re itching to buy a boat and sail around the world, this is the place to start.

Each class is taught with a 4:1 student-instructor ratio and offers a great environment for addressing the particular needs of each student. This class takes place on the water, so come prepared to be out on the boat for nearly all of the session.

Monday Veterans Bioluminescent Paddle

This paddle runs every month on the second Monday through September!

Join us on this nighttime paddle to witness the display of this enchanting light. We will take you to some of the best places in the region to see their glow! This trip is great for beginning and experienced paddlers alike.

The bioluminescence phenomenon is created by planktonic organisms that are active from June to September in our coastal marine habitats. Our guides will explain why they glow and why our destination of this tour offers such a uniquely incredible viewing opportunity!

You may request a sit-on top kayak or rowboat to better accommodate children or to offer a more comfortable platform for folks with mobility or balance concerns. Don’t hesitate to ask us what boat may suit you best.

Safety is our number one priority, running this tour at night requires experienced guides, good weather conditions and mindful participants. We will cancel and refund or reschedule the tour if the conditions are not safe. Usually we can anticipate conditions about 48 hours in advance but sometimes the conditions change just hours beforehand.

Experience is not necessary, but be ready to be out on the water most of the time!

Cost: $37.50 per person for Veterans and immediate family

When bringing kids on this tour please make sure you have at least a 1:1 adult to child ratio for kids that are unable to paddle on their own or are unable to responsibly share a boat with an adult partner.
