Vamos Outdoors Project

Vamos al mar (Let’s go to the sea) is a program done in partnership with the CBC where students get to learn about small-watercraft education, safe recreation, and marine stewardship. Some of the activities include kayaking, paddle boarding, sailboating and swimming. This program is free of cost for all students Vamos students, the CBC provides all the necessary instruction and equipment to safely lead participants in the water activities. Learn more.

Snow to Sea

Snow to Sea is a pathway program for middle school students (6th – 8th grade) hosted by multiple community-based organizations. Throughout the three-year program, students follow water molecules from the Nooksack River’s high alpine headwaters down to the river-mouth and saltwater of the Salish Sea. Learn more.

YouthNet

Youthnet is an expansive nonprofit that licenses foster families in Whatcom, Skagit, Island, San Juan, Snohomish, King, Pierce, Kitsap, Clallam, Jefferson & Gray’s Harbor counties. Youthnet’s mission is to provide caring and supportive educational and social services to youth and families to help them attain a productive and successful life.

The organization’s vision is “to contribute to building a foundation for healthy individuals and families based on the practice of equity, diversity and inclusion for all those [they] serve and support in the effort to create a stronger, more unified community.”

We provide unlimited free rentals for Youthnet kids and their case managers to get out on Bellingham Bay. Their mission, paired with our boats and waterfront access, resulted in some awesome, therapeutic adventures for Youthnet kids this summer. We look forward to expanding our partnership with Youthnet as we believe equitable and open access to recreation is an invaluable social service. Learn more.
