Out on the Water

Out on the Water is Community Boating Center’s queer affinity boating program. We invite LGBTQ+ community members, families, friends, and allies to join us for welcoming, affirming experiences on Bellingham Bay that foster connection, play, wellness, and belonging on the water. Since 2022, CBC’s LGBTQ+ affinity programs have welcomed more than 426 paddlers and sailors for over 1,200 hours on the water.

These gatherings are designed to create joyful, inclusive space both on shore and on the water. Whether you are brand new to boating or already feel at home outside, you are welcome here. Through shared outdoor experiences, participants build confidence, connect with others, and deepen their relationship with the Salish Sea.

Programming includes weekly Friday Pride Paddles, a Pride Paddle Parade, and Remembrance Day gatherings hosted at Community Boating Center in partnership with the Bellingham Queer Collective. Activities take place at CBC and on Bellingham Bay, with options for both boating and shore-based community connection.

This is an inclusive, welcoming space where everyone’s presence matters. We especially welcome LGBTQ+ adults, families, elders, newcomers, and those looking for a joyful way to build community outdoors.
