Silver Splash
At the Community Boating Center, we believe the joy of being on the water is something people should be able to experience at every stage of life. Our Silver Splash programs are designed specifically for older adults looking to stay active, connected, and engaged through accessible waterfront recreation on Bellingham Bay.
The CBC is excited to expand Silver Splash offerings with a new sailing program designed for you in mind. These programs are onboard comfortable, stable sailboats provide an approachable and relaxing introduction to sailing, with roomy seating and forgiving handling characteristics that make them ideal for seniors and first-time sailors alike. Participants can enjoy the quiet rhythm of sailing while taking in the beauty of the Salish Sea in a supportive, low-pressure environment.
In addition to sailing, Silver Splash programs also offer paddling for both “never-evers” and experienced paddlers.
Whether someone is stepping into a boat for the very first time or returning to a lifelong love of being on the water, our instructors provide welcoming guidance, adaptive support when needed, and opportunities to build confidence on the water at an enjoyable pace.
Beyond recreation, Silver Splash is about community connection, wellness, and rediscovering adventure. Time on the water encourages movement, reduces isolation, and creates meaningful opportunities for people to connect with nature and one another!
We are proud to continue building programs that make Bellingham Bay more welcoming and accessible for everyone — including the generations who helped shape our community.
